Get to Know the Real Me

As of November 2012, I now go by Amber Jackson. That's right! I married my best friend at the Oquirrh Mountain Temple. Shelby is the love of my life and I couldn't imagine what my life would be like without him in it.

I came from a decent-sized family. I have two brothers and one sister. I am number 2 in the line up. I absolutely love my family! We were not the typical family in our neighborhood. We show our love for each other by teasing, taunting, wrestling, and any other way that you would normally not show love by doing. It definitely comes from the Merrill side of the family. My dad is one of ten kids! Which translates into 50 cousins! Everyone is always in each other's business (whether you want them to be or not), gossiping, and EVERYONE is subject to public humiliation (in any form).

It has been interesting to see that I have become much closer to my siblings over the last few years and especially since I was married. I always look forward to seeing them. I think the hardest part is being away from my sister so much. She is my best friend and confidant. I'm so excited that she will be serving an LDS mission in New Zealand for the next 18 months! It's also very exciting that my brother is also serving in Gana, Africa for the next two years! My oldest brother recently got married in the same temple as I did, and I just love his new wife! I couldn't be more proud of all my siblings and the choices they have made. We are all growing up and moving on in our lives but the awesome part though, is that because my mom is my boss in a small office, I get to see her everyday! It is different though. At work, she is boss-mom. At home, she is mom-mom. When I go over to my parent's house, I get equally as excited to see my mom because I see her as mom-mom, not boss-mom.

Speaking of work, I love working for the construction industry. It has really given me the opportunity to get to know a lot of professionals. It has also given me a sense of ownership over my job. It isn't just a job at Sears that I don't care about. This is a job that I am financially responsible for and that I deeply care about. I want to see this industry flourish and help the economy come back to life.

A few other things about me:

I am a wife, I am a professional, I am a piano player, I am a hockey player, I AM A MORMON! And I am proud of it! Shelby and I just got involved with our new ward and it has been a great experience so far.

I am also a sports-aholic! I love getting out and being active. Running, P90X, Insanity, Hockey, Volleyball, Soccer....I LOVE IT ALL!!

I love life!
