Feel Better Dad!

Well, I'm sure that my parents weren't expecting their anniversary trip to Hawaii to turn out to be a medical emergency. Dad ended up getting hit by a wave at the beach that ended up breaking 5 ribs, shoulder damage, partially collapsed lung, and a blown eardrum. Now not being able to get on a plane for another two weeks, they just get to lounge around and relax. ;) Dad, I hope that you get better fast. We all want you guys to come home (at least I would like you to...and really soon!) We miss you a lot and hope that everything goes well! We love you!

Hockey Game

The hockey season has finally started! Yay! We have had a couple of practices and we had our first game this last Saturday, against the Black Diamonds B team. Not playing for a while, all of us are unconditioned. We actually played pretty well. Our defensive strategy and the execution of it was good, letting past three goals that were a little sloppy. One bouncing off of me into the goal and another accidentally put in by our own goalie, but when it came to the offensive attacks, we fell short. Losing our first game 3-0 was really disappointing but I think that it gave us a bit of a wake up call. Practice harder, skate harder and as much as I hate saying it, MORE 60 SECOND DRILLS, I think that we can come out on top against the Black Diamond C team next week. GO BLADES!

A Day at Hogle Zoo

This last Saturday, Emily and I were able to go to Hogle Zoo in Salt Lake City with some of our friends from hockey. I'm sure that I can say that all of us had a fantastic time!

We tried to get to all of the animals. Bears, birds, monkeys, snakes, elephants, and my personal favorite, the giraffe. Unfortunately, the only animal we didn't get to see was the national animal of Canada...the beaver (two of my friends are Canadian). I'm also so excited that we got some awesome pictures!

The best part about this experience is that it didn't end there. On the way home we made a stop at Players Bench to get Spang some gear for hockey and also a quick stop at Ikea (another friend is Swedish) to get some hot pads and a dish rack for Nicole and Spang's apartment, and also picked up some Swedish food and chocolate (delish). After which, Matz and I made a delicious dinner and we then made the 3rd period of the BYU vs. USU hockey game at the Peaks Ice Arena. Even though BYU lost the game, it was still very fun to hang out with my sister and some of our really good friends.

USA vs. El Salvador

On Saturday night I was able to go with my parents and my best friend, Ashley, to the USA vs. El Salvador World Cup Qualifier soccer match. I'm sure that I can speak for everyone when I say that we had a fantastic time! It was a great game. USA won 2-1 with some awesome plays. Great game, good company, screaming fans, and delicious chicken tacos...what more could you ask for?! And that's not the only exciting thing going on. Last night we had an awesome time with some friends, playing Rock Band and watching movies. And still, that is not all. Going to a Bee's Minor League Baseball game with those same friends today! So stoked!

These are the friends that we are hanging out with.

Chillin in Cedar City

Well I had a fantastic weekend! Friday afternoon I was able to go down to Cedar City with my second mother, Kristy! First of all, the drive down there was super fun. I was able to show Kristy some of my music and introduced her to the super amazing Yellowcard, one of my favorite bands, and totally rocked out to music from Kristy's childhood. Speakers blaring, singing at the top of our lungs to some Pat Benatar, Foreigner, Bryan Adams, Patty Smyth, etc.. NONE of my friends appreciate this music so it was great listening to it without someone complaining about it. After the fantastic three hour drive, we were able to get into our hotel and meet up with my best friend, Ashley, who is currently attending SUU. Grabbed some Wendy's before heading to one of the funniest comedy shows that I have ever seen. If anyone goes down there, just look up Off The Cuff at the Crystal Inn. It was totally worth seeing. I haven't laughed that hard in such a long time, so long, as a matter of fact, that my cheeks were sore the next day from smiling so much. Ashley and I were, then, up until about 2:30 AM watching 17 Again at a friend's apartment. THE BEST MOVIE...HILARIOUS! Saturday came around...we grabbed an awesome breakfast at IHOP before Kristy and I were on the road back home. I wish that we could have stayed longer, but unfortunately, I was due at work later that night. I was so happy that I was able to see Ashley and have a great time chilling with her and Kristy for two days!
These are two of the many pictures of Ashley and I.

I'm A Loser Friend...

Well, I feel like the biggest loser of a friend ever! My best friend since 1st grade is now in Basic Training for the Army. He only has certain times and a certain amount of time that he can call his family and other people on Sundays. Last Sunday he called a total of FOUR times! I couldn't believe that I had missed that many calls from him. I was working (unfortunately) so I couldn't answer it anyway but it made me feel so horrible that he could have been talking to his mom for a longer amount of time but he chose to call me and I didn't answer. Well it's Sunday again, and I was told by one of my friends (whom he also called) that he was going to call me again. I made sure that I had my phone on me at all times, with the exception of being at the Oquirrh Mountain Temple dedication, to make sure that if he called I'd be there to answer it. I decided to take a nap and while doing so, HE CALLED! I ended up waking up about 5 or 10 minutes after and didn't even think to check my phone. I didn't find out about about it until 7:30 ish. I tried to call him back but wasn't able to get a hold of him, I even left a message but he probably won't get it until next week. This is me and Shelby on Graduation Day

Blog Makeover!!

Okay, so I wasn't really feelin' what I had going on with my blog so I pretty much changed everything. Background, colors, title, site address, it's all different. No worries though! By the way, I need to give Emily credit for coming up with the new name of my blog. It's from the song "Amber" by 311. Thanks Em! Love you girl!

Book Search

Now that I have read The Hunger Games (it was so AMAZING), I'm having a hard time choosing my next book. I've been looking on my "to-read" list on goodreads.com and I just don't know what to read next. Alison, mom, if either of you have any suggestions for my next couple of books, I would really appreciate it!! I pulled out The Book Thief. Is that a good one? Help me out would ya!! If anyone else has a good book that I should read, let me know!

The Hunger Games

Well I finally read The Hunger Games and it was so amazing!! It hooked me on the first page and I couldn't put it down. It took me one day to read it and I wish that it would keep going. I was a little disappointed by the ending. It didn't really go into detail about the reunion with the families, it just kind of ended when Katniss and Peeta got off of the train. Kind of lame! I really loved the rest of the book, however, and I would definitely recommend this book to everyone! I can't wait until the next one comes out in September. I'm so stoked!!

Job Search

Oh man...trying to find another job so I can earn some money for college in the winter. I applied at about 5 or 6 places the other day and got a call yesterday for an interview at one of my favorite stores....Barnes and Noble!!! (Mom, Alison, feel free to be jealous)
I'm so stoked for the interview today, and hope that it goes over well. I'm pretty confident but nervous...haha! Wish me luck!

All Grown Up

Wow I can't believe that I'm going to college so soon. I've started to look at student housing on and off campus and I'm still not sure what I'm going to do. I heard from a co-worker that if I do on-campus housing, I will make more friends (that are not focused on getting married in the first year), and I'll get more involved with activities and events. I'm so excited though! I've heard great things about BYU-I from a lot of people and I can't wait to get there and start getting involved with everything. Just throwing myself into it without any friends seems like it will be an adventure, although I'm sure that I will make plenty of friends quickly. So excited but also stressed. There is still so much to do. Find housing, register for classes, find a hockey team, apply for more scholarships, and work my butt off so I can earn enough money! CRAZY STUFF!!

Senior Pictures

Well I finally got my senior pictures and they turned out really well. I'm so excited about them! Here are a few of my favorites.

Emily was making me laugh so hard.
It was sometimes hard to do some of the serious shots

because I was laughing so much.

This is probably my personal favorite.

Loved this one in both color and B&W.

This was a really old, two-seater bike that was
really hard to ride because it had two flats. We
had so much fun, though.

These were just a few of the really cute ones. I hope you all like them!

Double Prizes!

Today a couple of exciting things happened.
I finally received my Young Womenhood Award and I was
called into the primary. I will be co-teaching the three and
fours year-olds. I'm so excited and I think that it will be super fun!

Finally Done!

I'm so excited that I graduated from high school with honors! I can't wait to start the college life. If you don't already know, I'm going to go to BYU-Idaho in January.
I think that this will be
an exciting opportunity for me.
